He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. H. E. Godwin and Jeanette Godwin; his son Michael Godwin; his siblings, Henry Jr., Luke Godwin and Hazel Ard; his brother-in-law Rev. Wendell Ard; his nephew Greg Ard; and his brother-in-law Joel Howell.

He is survived by: his wife Hazel Godwin; his sisters, Barbara Godwin and Nell Howell; his children, Sue Forester (Robert) and Bruce Godwin (Phyllis); his grandchildren, Pamela Thompson (Patrick), Summer Forester (Tony) and Brooke Forester; his great grandchildren, Peyton and Lane Thompson; and his niece Donna Ard.
